Round 1 wrap up!

With our Ladies and 2nds competitions not starting until next week, our 1st Grade made the trip by themselves up to Tumut to face the bulls. Without the benefit of any preseason games, it proved to be a standard first round of footy where neither team settled into a good pattern of play.

Tumut were the first to put points on the board shortly after kick off with a successful penalty kick, but with a try before the end of the first half to George Mallat we walked off the field at half time up 5 – 3.

A herculean effort from Harry Cook fell just short of a try, but after camping on the Tumut line, Nathaniel Mooney picked up the ball from the back of the scrum to charge over for the 5 points! Taking the score to 12 – 3 after a successful conversion by Sam Carwardine.

A tough day in the office but the boys showed plenty of enthusiasm, and there would have been some sore bodies come Sunday morning. Tumut defended well, especially when we had the better share of territory.
